Dellows at Shelsley, July 19th

The next event that we attended was the Dellow Gathering at Shelsley Walsh and we combined this with a weekend away. Accordingly we set sail in the Dellow towards the NT property at Basildon Park in Berkshire, a lovely Palladian House restored in the 50s by Lord and Lady Illiffe of the publishing family, think Autocar!
We stayed the night in Wootton Bassett well placed for the Air Tattoo at Fairford where we saw the wonderful Vulcan bomber perform. On the Sunday, we drove to The Hundred House hotel for coffee and then did the 30 mile scenic run organized by Jeremy Nightingale. The display at Shelsley was hampered by heavy showers but there was an encouraging 21 cars attending. On the Monday we drove home via friends in Uley, Glos a total trip of over 500 miles with no probs apart from a moment when we found a lorry parked in the left lane of the A329 which was unexpected to say the least!!
